How to use FLIC, start to finish

From buying it to getting paid for clips. Six parts, in order. Each one takes a few minutes of your time; FLIC does the long part by itself.

1 · Install 2 · Pick a campaign 3 · ChatGPT 4 · The video 5 · FLIC runs 6 · Post & get paid Help

1 · Install FLIC (once)

About 20–40 minutes, mostly waiting for downloads. You need an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer), macOS 14 or newer, 20 GB free, and internet.

1

Buy FLIC on Whop and find your license key

After you buy, open your FLIC purchase on Whop. The license key is on that page. Copy it; the installer asks for it.

Can't find it? On whop.com go to your orders, open FLIC, and look for License key.
2

Download the installer

Go to the download page and click the download button. You get one small file called Install-FLIC.zip. Double-click it in Downloads and it becomes Install FLIC.command.

Open the download page
3

Run it and wait

Double-click Install FLIC.command. macOS will say it "could not verify" it (normal for a new app): click Done, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom, click Open Anyway, then Open. One time only.

Paste your license key when asked. It may ask for your Mac password once (nothing shows while you type; press Return). Then wait. When it's done, a guide page opens and two buttons appear on your Desktop: Start FLIC and Stop FLIC.

FLIC lives in one folder: ~/FLIC. The only folder you'll ever touch is ~/FLIC/input.

2 · Pick a campaign on Whop

Campaigns pay you per 1,000 views for clips of someone's content. FLIC is built for them.

4

Open Content Rewards on Whop

Go to whop.com/discover and look for the Content Rewards or Clipping section. Each campaign page shows the payout, the platforms, and the rules.

5

Choose one that fits FLIC

Good signs: a podcast, interview or talking-head creator; "clipping" or "clip the episodes"; you can join without applying; a clear payout per 1,000 views; platforms you have an account on (YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels).

Bad signs: "must match our aesthetic", "no simple edits", "edit to the beat", application only, "must use CapCut". FLIC cuts real moments with captions; it doesn't make music-video edits. ChatGPT will catch these in the next part anyway.

6

Copy the whole brief

On the campaign page, select all of the rules and requirements text and copy it. Everything: payout, platforms, allowed sources, what gets rejected, how to submit. More is better than less.

3 · Let ChatGPT turn the brief into rules

Two minutes. This is how FLIC knows what the campaign allows.

7

Paste the assistant prompt, then the brief

Open this file and copy all of it: ~/FLIC/instructions/assistant-prompt.txt

Go to chatgpt.com (a free or guest chat is fine). Paste the prompt, press Return twice for a blank line, paste the campaign brief underneath, and send.

8

Read the verdict

The first line of the reply is the verdict:

GO The campaign fits. Carry on.
RISKY Something in the rules could get clips rejected (for example "no clipping tools" or a warm-up period). FLIC will pause and show you why; you decide.
If the reply is just NOT A CAMPAIGN BRIEF., you pasted the wrong text. Go back to the campaign page and copy the rules.
9

Save the answer as brief.txt

In the reply, find the line COPY EVERYTHING BELOW THIS LINE INTO brief.txt. Copy everything under it. Open TextEdit, go to Format → Make Plain Text, paste, and save it as brief.txt inside ~/FLIC/input

The name matters: brief.txt, nothing else. TextEdit sometimes adds .rtf or .txt.txt; if FLIC leaves a file called WAITING_FOR_BRIEF.txt in the folder, the name is wrong.

4 · Get the video

One episode at a time, as an MP4.

10

Download the episode the campaign allows

Most briefs say which channel or videos you may clip. Download that episode as an MP4 any way you like, then drop it into ~/FLIC/input

Shortcut: open Terminal, type cd ~/FLIC, then this line with your campaign name and the YouTube link. It checks the source is allowed and saves the video into the input folder for you.

.venv/bin/python3 engine/scripts/ingest.py --campaign NAME --url "LINK"

The campaign name is the name: line near the top of your brief.txt. Keep only one video in the input folder at a time.

5 · FLIC runs by itself

Roughly 30 minutes for a 3-hour episode. Keep the Mac plugged in with the lid open.

11

Drop and walk away

As soon as the video and brief.txt are both in the input folder, FLIC starts. Nothing to click. If nothing happens within a minute, double-click Start FLIC on your Desktop.

12

Answer the pause, if there is one

If the verdict was RISKY, FLIC stops and writes why into ~/FLIC/input/summary.txt

Fine with it? Make an empty file named ACCEPT_RISK in the input folder and FLIC continues. Not fine? Delete the video and brief and pick another campaign.

13

Wait for the notification

You get a Mac notification when it's done and the review page opens on its own. The finished video moves to ~/FLIC/input/done, ready for the next one.

6 · Post the clips and get paid

This is the part only you can do. It takes a few minutes per clip.

14

Pick your clips on the review page

Clips that passed every campaign rule are at the top, marked PASS, each with a rating, the hook it opens on, and a copy button for its caption. Watch them, keep the ones you like. Rejected clips and the reason are further down, in case you disagree.

The page lives at ~/FLIC/output/NAME/…/clips_review.html and the MP4s are in the same folder.

15

Post them where the brief allows

Send the MP4s to your phone (AirDrop is quickest) and post one at a time on the platforms the campaign lists. Paste the caption from the review page. Add anything the brief requires, like a tag or a credit.

The posting rules in the brief are yours to follow by hand: keep posts up for the required time, keep likes visible, no paid boosts. They are repeated for you in ~/FLIC/input/summary.txt

Spread clips out. One or two a day from the same episode does better than ten at once, and looks less like a bot to the platforms.
16

Submit the links on Whop

Back on the campaign page, submit each post's link the way the brief says (usually a Submit button, sometimes with your account and audience details). Views are counted after approval and you're paid per 1,000. Then drop the next episode in.
